SOMALIA: Unknown armed- men gunned down an elder in Barawe, port town in lower Shabelle region.


MOGADISHU- Unidentified gunmen armed with Pistols shot and killed a prominent Somali traditional elder in Barawe port town, the capital city of Southwestern sate, about 220 Km away from the capital city of the country, Mogadishu during the last night.

The killed elder named as Saydina Hajiyow Mukow who served as a military officer during the rule of the collapsed government led by Mohamed Siyad Barre.

A resident confirmed to Danan News that the victim has been killed by nearly 4 armed men with pistols said to be youths while he was heading his home from masque.

No group has yet taken the responsibility for murdering of the elder, but the district commissioner and southwest administration officials blamed Alshabab fighters, the Al-Qaida affiliated insurgent based in Somalia carrying out this attack.

Alshabab militants conducted such attacks in the past, but no word yet established by Alshabab fighters over this killing.
